Land Banking Topic of Discussion at BCPA Meeting

Stacey Dietrich Dudas from the City of Hamilton provides an overview of the new land banking legislation. Representatives of Butler County including the Treasurer's Office attended the meeting to discuss the feasibility of a land banking organization for Butler County.

West Chester U.S. Route 42 Road Widening

The U.S. Route 42 (Cincinnati-Columbus Road) road widening project includes the widening of U.S. Route 42 to three lanes to provide a through land in each direction and a middle two-way left-turn lane from U.S. Route 42 from Fields-Ertel Road north to Butler-Warren Road. Specifically, just north of Windwood Drive to just south of Butler-Warren Road. This widening is for areas where there is currently no turn lane. The project also includes the left turn lanes on both approaches of Dimmick Road, which is designed to provide safer roadway conditions for the traveling public. Project is scheduled to begin Spring 2011 with completion slated for Fall 2012.

Project Investment: $3.1 million

Five Year Progress Report Provided by BCPA Chairman Slagle

During the early years of the Butler County Port Authority there were many management and project development challenges. MRH Deconstruction, Greater Miami Valley YMCA and the Quaker Chemical Industrial Development Bond are projects that have been completed in 2008 and 2009. The electric switch lock system for rail with three firms in the Hamilton and Fairfield area was completed in 2007. A Ohio Rail Development Commission Grant and a grant from Cinergy were part of the project. Also the Intermodal Rail Study was finished in 2007 and can assist in Intermodal and Multimodal rail projects.

Officers were elected for 2010 included: Joe Magdich as Chairman, Jim Fitton as Vice-Chairman and Mike Campbell as Secretary. Mr. Slagle will remain on the Board. Board Members thanked him for his leadership and direction during the past five years.
